On March 10, 2026, a Bitcoin miner somewhere di dunia processed a block that pushed the total number of Bitcoin ever mined past the 20 million mark. This seemingly simple number carries profound implications: only 1,000,000 BTC remain to be created, and they will be mined over approximately the next 114 years.
To put this in perspective: it took 17 years (2009-2026) to mine the first 20 million Bitcoin. The last 1 million will take lebih dari 6 times as long. By the time the 21 millionth Bitcoin is mined around the year 2140, most people alive today tidak akan be around to witness it.
The milestone comes at a time of unprecedented institusional adoption. Bitcoin's supply is controlled by code, not central banks. Every ~10 minutes, a new block is added to the blockchain, and the miner who solves it receives the hadiah blok. This reward is the only way new Bitcoin enters circulation.
The hadiah blok started at 50 BTC in 2009 and halves every 210,000 blocks (~4 years). Currently at 3.125 BTC per block, this creates approximately 450 BTC per day (144 blocks x 3.125 BTC). After the next halving in ~2028, this drops to just 225 BTC per day.
